Riversong lodge, alaska fishing lodge

Nice people, but Riversong Lodge seems to run at high capacity and we were blended amist the crowd.Lots of potential, but the lodge is trying to accompany way too many and way too much..

Everything in the lodge was over-priced, on top of the trip package price. It seemed like too many people were coming and going all the time and we would have been more satisfied with a smaller number of people all sharing the experience together under one roof. The combinations of trips and day trips, etc. throw a bit of an in-and-out feel to the whole operation.

Everything seems short-lived.

We visited Riversong 10 years ago when Carl & Kirsten ran the place and it has changed. Some for the better, but overall we miss the old ropes.

Yes, fishing sucked anyway as we never fished the local river we assumed we would fish. Cold rainy and fishless at Riversong lodge.

Not for me.Boat fishing mainly and they offered restricted river access.

As a fly fisherman , I was pretty bummed to be stuck with novices fishing bait in a boat all day. The lodge was nice, but I was mixed in with a group of non-fishing tourists.

A fly by operation.Looking for a more personalized and accommodating experience.

Riversong Lodge fell far short of our expectations. Our guide showed up 20 minutes late to pick us up from the float plane our firest morning.

Although we expected to fish Lake Creek, the local freestone river, while we visited in August... we ended up fishing some slow-water slough off the area glacial river. We fished with salmon eggs and bobbers. It was not at all what we came to do.

I loved the area, but Riversong did not provide the fishing experience we expected.

Beer and other extras were way over-priced.Food was good, but service lacked big-time.

Heard they are closed for summer, 2013 and filed for bankruptcy.

These are the nice things I can say about Riversong...the food was good (minus the wait) and our guide was extremely accomodating (only because I think he knew our fishing experience wasn't the best). There is definite mass confusion between the lodge, the fishing guides, and Rusts fly-in service.

We went for a family vacation, only to have our party split up while fishing and on our fly-out home. That is not what you pay thousands of dollars for.

Major disappointment on both Riversong and Rusts Fly Service. Our annual vacation next year will not include either of these places!

Found this place through "Knightly tours." Was given info that was random. Not sure the affiliation here!? Knightly quoted a "remote, solitary wilderness experience." Will choose to book directly with the operator next time so I know what I'm really getting.

Came for a day trip.We enjoyed our experience, but the day was way too short and the schedule was rushed.

We would have loved to fish all day, but were escorted back to the lodge for lunch and a way too long break in the action.Everyone was very nice, just a little pre-occupied.

We had a pretty good experience at Riversong, but I agree with some of your comments. The operation runs a bit super-sized. Just need to find the right size to fit and it would be a good place overall.
